Q: When should we start taking lessons?

A:  Remember that your schedule will get very hectic as your wedding day approaches.  I recommend starting your lessons 2-3 months prior to your wedding date for maximum comfort on the dance floor. However, couples have come to me right before the big day and we’ve worked with the time efficiently and effectively!

Q: How much are lessons and how many do I really need?

A: That depends on you both, your willingness to practice, and how comfortable you want to look and feel during your dance.  Wedding packages are available for 3 private (55 min ) lessons for $180 or 5 for $275. Individual lessons are $65hr. All wedding packages include choreography with an elegant entrance and exit. There are no contracts to sign.

Q: What kind of music should I use?

A: When you choose your song, you will of course want to pick a song with meaning to you and your fiancée. But there are other things to take into consideration if you are planning on a special dance. The first is the beat… is it actually a song you can dance to? Some beautiful songs were not really recorded for dancing. It's a good idea to have a back up song or two to bring in on your first lesson.

Q: What should I wear for a dance class?

A: There is no specific dress code; your first priority should be comfort. Wear clothing that isn’t constricting, but easy to move in.  Brides, consider your wedding attire.  Dancing in a ball gown will feel very different from street clothes.  About half way through your lessons, it's a good idea  to practice while wearing your crinoline or a dress similar in style.

Q: What about foot wear?

A: Sneakers or rubber-soled shoes are not ideal footwear because they grip the floor, making it difficult to turn; leather-soled shoes are better.

Q: My fiancé/fiancée doesn’t dance, can we actually enjoy dancing together?

A: Absolutely! Often the partner that “wasn’t so sure” turns out to really enjoy their lessons.  You will learn elegant and comfortable steps that will be fun for both of you.

Q: Are there benefits to private lessons?

A: Private instruction offers you individualized teaching geared to your specific needs and abilities. The instructor's attention is completely focused on you.

Q. What if I've never danced before?

A: You don't have to be a great dancer to pull off a great first dance! A little planning and some practice and you'll be the toast of the dance floor!
